Bruno Vianna was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1971. He has a film major from Universidade Federal Fluminense. He has a master from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program, concluded in 1999. In 2006 he started a PhD at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
Between 1994 and 2003 he directed four fictional short films, dealing mostly with social themes about his native city. In 2006 he directed his first feature, Cafuné, released at the same time in movie theaters and the Internet, under a Creative Commons license.
Bruno works with mobile computing since 1999. He developed a tilt sensor for PDAs in 1999 as his master thesis. He got a grant from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, in the year 2000, to develop an investigation in interactive literature named Palm Poetry, in association with writer Orit Kruglanski.
